Weather Internship with E.ON Global Commodities at their Dusseldorf, Germany, Headquarters

E.ON, Germany's largest utility with a presence on multiple continents, is pleased to offer a minimum 6 month internship at their Dusseldorf, Germany, global commodities trading headquarters starting in the summer 2015 (or post-graduation) for a Penn State meteorology or weather risk student.  The following skill sets are preferred:

  • excellent knowledge of: weather forecasting (short and long term weather), teleconnections and wind, solar and hydropower prediction (or a strong dedication to quickly learning these skills)
  • active programming ability with Excel, Visual Basic, C or C++, ability to read, organize and analyze grib files (enhanced programming skills would be a plus)
  • intrinsically motivated with good interpersonal skills, and an ability to handle hard deadlines in a high pressure environment.

 

This would be a paid internship opportunity.

This opportunity could be extended to more than 6 months (there is flexibility with the length of the time commitment, preference given to those willing to commit to a minimum of 6 months).
