Visiting the Department

Walker Bldg Gould Center PhotoDepartment of Meteorology and Atmospheric Science Visits or Tours

  • If you are a prospective undergraduate (BS degree) student: Individual visits can be scheduled by contacting the Earth and Mineral Sciences (EMS) Ryan Family Student Center at (814) 863-2751, by emailing Stacy Davidson at sjp123@psu.edu or completing the web form on the bottom of the College of EMS Visit Us page. The College of EMS will coordinate your visit with us so that it includes one-on-one time with Department of Meteorology and Atmospheric Science faculty and usually at least one student, as well as a tour of the department. Opportune times to visit the department (and College of Earth and Mineral Sciences) are during EMEX (The College of Earth and Mineral Science's Open House) usually held in mid to late March, or during Penn State's "Spend A Summer Day" program in July and August. Department tours are given Monday through Friday (sorry no weekends) and we would appreciate at least one week's notice prior to your visit date so we can best prepare for your tour. Schedule a visit
  • If you are a prospective graduate (MS or PhD degree) student: See Schedule a Visit in the Prospective Graduate Student section of our website.
  • If you are an educator, or organizer of a community group or class and would like to give your group or class a tour of the Department of Meteorology and Atmospheric Science:  Please contact the Joel N. Myers Weather Center manager, Bill Syrett (wjs1@psu.edu).
