Meteorology Recruiting Overview

job interview imageEmployment opportunities for students in the Department of Meteorology are available in private industry, government agencies, broadcast television, and higher and secondary education.

To facilitate professional placement, we welcome companies to visit our department for information sessions and interviews leading to internships or full-time positions for our students.  The best time to do this is during our departmental spring career fair, called Meteorology Career Days, which is typically held the last weekend in March.  We realize however, that some companies prefer to recruit in the fall, so the information below will guide you in setting up individual recruiting visits.

How to Participate

NEW IN FALL 2009:  We will be using the eCareer online scheduling system to manage recruiting in the department. To ensure an efficient and rewarding experience for both recruiters and students, please follow the processes outlined in the section pertaining to you:

Other Opportunities For Students

Technical co-op positions are available through the Penn State Engineering Cooperative Education Program. This is an academic program where you alternate semesters of classroom study with semesters of paid, progressive, career-related experiences in industry through your junior and senior years.
