System Engineer, CSS-Wx FAA

Job Description
  • Provide 2nd level engineering support for the CSS-Wx system and provide support for interface testing with the NWP system.
  • Support system development/integration/deployment activities for CSS-Wx.
  • Review and comment on system engineering documents; attend system design reviews and meetings as requested to support program
  • Develop and manage scripts to assist with systems and database administration in a Linux and Windows environment.
  • Participate in system test and key site test activities as a systems and database administrator.
  • Troubleshoot database software issues in a virtualized environment and support database test and verification activities.
  • Access system attributes and determine errors or suggest operational improvements.
  • Develop and execute a Test Plan, document results, and generate test reports.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Meteorology, or Computer Science (or related discipline)
  • Fifteen (15) years of related experience to include experience with Weather Systems (CSS-WX) and weather data formats such as AIXM, WXXM, FIXM
  • Understanding of systems and databases such as Oracle, PostGIS/PostgreSQL), networking and Linux
  • Experience with automated test tools such as SoapUI, LoadUI, Hermes JMS
  • Knowledge of SOA/Service Oriented Architecture technologies such as FUSE/JBoss, JMS
