Job description

Applications now due June 6, 2022

Maryland Sea Grant is accepting applications for its State Science Policy Fellowship program.

Modeled after the National Sea Grant Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship, this fellowship will increase the applicant's professional skills and provide critical experience working at the science-policy interface.

This is an exciting opportunity for students interested in applying their research experience and critical thinking skills to advancing science-based, environmental decision-making and policy development in Maryland.

Several offices are seeking to host potential State Science Policy Fellows in 2022:

Graduate students who have advanced to candidacy for a Ph.D. or completed a M.S., Ph.D. or J.D. by the spring semester 2022 are eligible to apply. For graduates, degrees must have been awarded May 1, 2020, or later to be eligible. Learn more about eligibility on our website.

This is a one-year fellowship. Fellows will be hired as contractual employees of the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science-MDSG, receiving a base annualized salary of $45,000 plus access to fringe benefits including health care options. Some funding is available for professional development travel. Fellows are jointly supported by both Maryland Sea Grant and the host office.
