I.M. Systems Group, Inc. (IMSG) www.imsg.com, a Federal Government Contractor, is seeking to hire a Scientific Analyst / Programmer to join our team at NOAA/NESDIS/Center for Satellite Applications Research (STAR).  IMSG currently supports NOAA/STAR’s Atmospheric Science and Technology Applications contract in applied research and development working environment along with U.S. government scientists, visiting scientists, and other contractors. The candidate will work with scientists on migration of ozone and other trace gas retrieval research algorithms (e.g., as developed for OMPS, EOS OMI, Sentinel 5P TropoMI, and TEMPO) to future operational use at NOAA.  

Duties:

  • Provide programming and algorithm support for the development, implementation, validation and maintenance of atmospheric composition products from satellite-based measurements.

Qualifications:

  • MS equivalent with experience in computer programming for remote sensing and data assimilation application.
  • Experience in converting research code to operational code
  • Strong computer programming and scripting background
  • 3+ years of experience in C++
  • 3+ years of experience of IDL and other graphic tools (Matlab, Python, etc.)
  • Familiarity with scientific data formats such as HDF and netCDF
  • Experience with shell scripting

Candidates must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder to qualify)
(US Citizen must live in US for 3-5 years prior to application)
