Job description

National Weather Forecasting, LLC. – Teterboro Airport (NJ)

Job Position: Operational Meteorologist.

National Weather Forecasting, LLC

We are located at beautiful and dynamic Teterboro Airport (KTEB). KTEB of the busiest corporate airports in the United States (being not far from Manhattan, on the NJ side of the Hudson River). We are private weather consulting firm specializing in storm warning services to a variety of clients, both in the private and government sector. Since 1985, National Weather Forecasting, LLC has provided top level of service to clients that are impacted by the weather.

Job Description: Make forecasts for our clients. Aviation weather background helpful but not necessary, we will train in aviation weather. Our main thrust is overall operational meteorology. NOTE: the hours initially may be “part time” in the order of 20-30 hours per week, but may lead to full time. Candidates must reside within driving distance to Northeastern New Jersey, which means, the lower Hudson Valley, northwestern and central New Jersey, southwestern CT and NYC area. Anyone east of NYC (on Long Island) would pose a commuting problem, sometimes that commute can be 1 hour or 3 hours…so we stay away from long distance travelers. We do this for the benefit of the person applying for the job and for our operations at our company. Unless you have your own helicopter to take, then that’s a different story.

Schedule: Job openings will begin around May 1st to June 1st, our interviews will start earlier. First, if you meet the requirements within this ad, a phone interview would be first, then an in-person interview will be second. Working hours will mainly be 6AM to 6PM but 24/7 operations is needed and you will be required to fulfill that need along with others here at National Weather Forecasting. The meteorologist will work occasional weekend days and alternating holidays.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Meteorology, military equivalent or certified broadcast meteorology
  • Strong understanding of weather processes and forecasting techniques with a strong hold in synoptic meteorology
  • Ability to forecast for snow and ice

  • Good oral, written and personal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and excel in a sometimes fast paced environment and must have good computer skills
