Maxar is currently seeking an Operational Meteorologist to join out team in Gaithersburg, MD.

Your Project: Maxar provides global weather forecasts to commodity and energy operations clients, allowing them to stay ahead of emerging conditions impacting financial trading, agriculture production, and critical infrastructure.   • Provide continuously updated weather information to commodity sensitive and risk management focused clients for the purpose of managing the impact of weather on client businesses
  • Contribute forecast ideas ranging from real-time to seasonal outlooks 
  • Conduct basic or applied research in meteorology
  • Leverage creative thinking and innovative ideas to meet client needs
  • Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
  • Respond promptly to customer needs

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen and be willing and able to obtain U.S. Government Secret security clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in meteorology or a related field. Four additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree
  • Minimum of 0 years experience
  • Ability to accommodate required night and weekend work

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional meteorology experience
  • Experience with basic computer programming
  • Strong written communication skills
